Company from the Oil & Gas industry is looking for a Welder Engineer, for an onshore project based in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.
Mission:
▪ Follow welding through all its aspects from bid phase when welding philosophy has to be set to Project
completions, looking
at solutions of high quality level and high productivity, according to Project Schedule, monitoring and
supporting Production
Phase.
▪ Promote and support new welding solutions, techniques and consumables to achieve the most
competitive and strategic
results
Tasks:
Execute activities within own area of responsibility, ensuring the compliance with the QA/QC and HSE
requirements
Tasks include:
▪ Assist and support the Welding Coordinator and/or project teams on all welding matters
▪ Prepare a nd issue preliminary Welding Documents for assigned project or bids
▪ Review clients specifications and scopes of work, examine pipe metallurgy and prepare detailed
Welding procedures to
achieve maximum productivity in accordance with required quality levels
▪ Coordinate and schedule personnel and systems for the qualification of welding procedures and
welders
▪ Review subcontractors tender documents and technical qualifications
▪ Assist QHSE Department on subcontractor assessments/audits
▪ Review and approve subcontractors Welding submissions
▪ Ensure that Welding traceability info are recorded, maintained and available in the required format for
all Welding activities
to demonstrate achievement of client requirements
▪ Review journals and technical papers for new welding technology. Maintain contact with welding
equipment suppliers and
consumable vendors to promote advances in welding technology
Moreover, the Offshore Welding Engineer shall:
▪ Maintain updated departmental project Welding files and database so that information is readily
available
to other department members
▪ Liaise with the barge personnel, particulary welding supervisors and operative welding figures, and
assist
n optimising work methods and trouble shooting where and when required
▪ Monitor laybarge progress to identify opportunities for improvement
Moreover, the Welding Production Engineer shall:
▪ Contract Technical review to verify Project Technical requirements for Welding Activities
▪ Propose the Base material Purchase str ategy for a fabrication Project
▪ Prepare and issue Welding Documents (Welding Books, WPSs, WPQR, PTW report, Procedures, etc.)
▪ Evaluate and extimate type and quantity of welding consumables
▪ Prepare Purchase Requests for Welding Consmable
▪ Monitor Consumables consumes along the project, evaluating additional Consumable Purchase, if
required
▪ Monitor the Welding Quality trough the analisys of the trends of Project Defect Rates and Welders
defect
rates prepared by QHSE Dept., proposing improvement actions
Requirements
▪ Field experience of 8 years for both offshore and onshore.
▪ Qatar
Gas projects experience is highly recommended.
